Sticky note #762

Beware the sticky note, gentle reader… it spawns and devours the ink which marked it as important, leaving a pale ghostly scribble and general confusion:

smoke detectors

The confusion as per this note relates to how long it’s stayed stuck to the wall, something like ten months. That’s how long its been since my world revolved around [...]

Nightlights

I have a new novel in progress, a crime-fantasy set in the City of Light and thus full of shadows.  It’s also full of auxilary characters who are giving me trouble by being coolly named (so I can’t arrest them), lovable (so I can’t kill them off) or in the case of the newest one [...]

Still Falling

Soon – very soon – Before the Fall will be available for purchase, my first ever space opera. With six-foot felinoids and catmint … yes, it’s one of those stories.
It also features the Winterlark and that was a surprise. She originally arrived on the page/screen thanks to a Blue Room competition requring the key words: [...]

outlaw love will never bind

Or will it? Thinking about Flax Sharpe and Damascena from WIP Seventy Percent, I’m pretty sure it does. Then add Morganetti to the mix and things become fascinating. I miss this project; it’s moved down the list due to a few pushy novels demanding more attention. There’s something about it though, something more than Flax’s [...]

Feral Intensity: Prologue

Shadow Connor, the Huntress series, Book One. Word Count: 595

Three years ago…

I gave out a yelp of pain as his fist smashed into my face. Dude packed a decent punch, I had to say. I dropped, since that was probably what he meant the punch to cause. I caught another thump on the temple as I went down. Not quite enough to daze me, but I let him think it did. Man, I thought to myself as he yanked my arms behind my back and cuffed me, Maureen’s going to be pissed at me in the morning.

Welcome Home: taste

Molly hummed her signature tune as she tried Harrison White’s door, found it unlocked, and waltzed inside like a modern Goldilocks. Definitely the wrong fairy tale – Molly was a Cinderella who took one look at her destiny and ran, coming back much improved to spit in the eye of her stepsisters, the fairy godmother [...]
