o my lord

So last night I was happily watching a TV program on the Seven Ages of Rock when a realisation surfaced from the murky subconscious and quirked a brow most wry: of course, Lindeth’s metacharacter is Jareth the Goblin King.  And I am so glad he didn’t tell me that earlier. Lindeth, that is, not Jareth. Though I do want the talking Goblin King figurine.

Excuse me while I sigh regretfully. Shipping issues dim my enthusiasm.

Back to Lindeth, the Lord of Evesleigh, and a character from my 2009 NaNoWriMo project. Will I do NaNo again? Possibly, but I won’t be signging up for moderator updates as the Melbourne one irritated me no end. The novel was supposed to be Steampunk. Didn’t work. Fusion fantasy is where I default. Lindeth was supposed to be a secondary character. He didn’t let that work. His lordship demanded equal point of view and thanks to the subconscious patterning, he got it, in all his wordy blond glory and swishy coat.

Having accepted this insight into Lindeth, I’m a tiny bit concerned about how the to-be-completed final scenes will evolve. Will there be shadowing? Quotes and paraphrasing? Better not. That would be cheating myself. And Lindeth.

PS – The novel in question, Sweetheart Call Me Master, has a tie to The Harkfell Chronicles:

How cool is that? Our worlds overlap… literally.

I like the idea of fusion fantasy with a tie-in to The Harkfell Chronicles, now that’s a kick.

That’s my genre lable and it’s sticking to me.
Also, there’s a wisp of a link to Pandora’s Edge and Siren’s Gate. Librarians are so sneaky. Just when I think I’ve got them safely locked in their very nice libraries, they start uncovering escape hatches.
